Michael Benseman (owner) has cultivated his passion for landscape construction for over 20 years. A lifelong outdoorsman, he quickly learned that in order to thrive in a career, he had to be out in nature with his hands busy.

Michael found landscape construction to be the perfect fit, combining his keen attention to detail and aesthetics with his love for New Zealand’s unique natural environment. 

Michael’s landscaping journey began in Wellington, where he was born and raised. After completing a four year landscape construction apprenticeship, he further immersed himself in the trade by leading teams at several award-winning landscaping businesses and working as a sole trader in Wellington, Northland, and Melbourne. He felt called to return home to Aotearoa in 2015, when he began True Landscaping in earnest. 

He combines over 20 years of experience with a genuine passion for the work, which you can feel in the final product. An absolute perfectionist, he makes the most of the coolest little capital’s unique landscape challenges.
